Snoring Named Most Annoying Sleeping Habit - Are You Guilty?

The benefits of a good night's sleep are obvious to most people and recent scientific studies have brought to light even more beneficial effects for overall health.

Having a solid sleep session helps reduce stress levels, can improve cardiovascular health and is even thought to be involved with positive processes which may ward off age-related degenerative brain diseases.

So sleeping really does appear to play an important part in a healthy lifestyle. However, for many people, sharing a bed with a partner can interfere with their own ability to enjoy a good night's sleep ... especially if they are being kept awake by the noise of someone snoring!

Survey
A new survey from a major British bed retailer has revealed that 54% of people in the UK claim that their partner's snoring regularly impacts on their own chance of getting eight hours sleep.

Of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey, 74% said that they lost up to seven hours sleep a week because of their partner's bedtime habits.

10% said they would rather share a bed with their pets! haha!

Health
Of course, sleeping well plays its part in staying healthy, but the reasons that people snore can be a medical question in themselves. However, in most cases it is a far simpler thing to sort out. Sometimes it can be caused by something as straightforward as bad bedtime habits or even poor sleeping posture.

Personalhealthcare from benenden health will enable you to request help from consultants who are familiar with the problem. They will be able to diagnose the cause of your snoring and decide if you’re suffering from a more serious condition like sleep apnoea.

Other factors
Of course it isn't just a snoring partner that can keep people awake. The survey found that 46% of people who took part cited their partner hogging the duvet as the main cause of their own lack of sleep, whilst 40% said that fidgeting was the big problem.

More unsavoury complaints include partners who passed wind or suffered from excessive sweating in bed, and a number of people complained about sleeping naked.

The whole thing is put into perspective by the number of people who quiet happily share their beds with their partners, but for those who do find they are having sleeping problems a medical opinion may be the solution needed to keep everything happy beneath the sheets.
