Places to visit in Sicily with the kids!

The Mediterranean island of Sicily makes for a fabulous family holiday destination. Each year, more and more families are deciding to visit Sicily with the children in tow, as a result of the island’s many family-friendly attractions and activities. If you are currently planning your trip, you will be able to book a splendid Sicilian beach holiday online. With this in mind, here is my guide to some of the must-see locations in Sicily to visit with the kids.

The Madonie Adventure Park
This delightful adventure park is situated in the picturesque Madonie mountain range and offers a wonderful selection of activities to keep children of all ages thoroughly entertained. From sporting activities such as archery and horse riding to orienteering and nature trails, there really is something for everybody!

Etna Land

This fabulously fun complex, located close to the city of Catania, features a water park, zoo and even a special exhibit dedicated to the dinosaurs.  Children, especially those between the ages of 4 and 13, will find themselves mesmerised by the animals and will no doubt enjoy the park’s many pools, water slides and crocodile rapids.

The Syracuse Archaeological Park

This historically significant archaeological park is visited by vast numbers of tourists travelling with children each year. Syracuse is home to an incredibly rich and colourful history that will no doubt ignite your children’s imagination as they learn all about Archimedes during one of the many interactive children’s workshops.

The Pasqualino Marionette Museum

This exciting and informative museum is located in the heart of Palermo and is a great place to take the kids on a family day out. They have the opportunity to learn all about the Sicilian Marionettes through various charming and enjoyable puppet shows, which tell the tales of gallant knights and damsels in distress.

The Carini Bio-park

The island of Sicily is also home to a wonderful bio-park situated not far from Palermo. The complex boasts an endless array of colourful and exotic animal species including birds, reptiles and African mammals, alongside numerous playgrounds, exhibits, picnic areas and child-friendly cafes.
There is so much to see and do on the breathtaking Italian island of Sicily that you and your family will no doubt be spoilt for choice during your fabulous family vacation. Remember to plan your itinerary beforehand in order to make the most of your unforgettable Sicilian break.
