The Summer holidays is an ideal time to redecorate your child's bedroom if that's something you're planning on doing. Dulux are currently running a campaign that encourages children and parents to collaborate together and use their creativity on decorating their room.
Dulux recently partnered with Child Developmental Psychologist Dr. Sam Wass (who you might recognise from the Secret Lives of 4, 5 and 6 year olds.. I love those shows!) to look into the benefits of involving your child in the decorating process, and actually found that decorating their bedroom is more important to kids than other popular summer activities such as watching their first football match, or riding a bike. This is how this campaign came about and I think it's fab! Creativity is something I find so important for kids so I am happy to help spread the word.
To help with this campaign, Dulux have created a Kids Bedroom Summer Workbook. It's perfect for spending quality time with your child as well as designing their new room and getting creative. Just download it, print it out and then get to work!
There's also lots more information over on the Dulux website including the research findings, a range of themes for inspiration, how tos and helpful tips. Dulux’s Endurance+ range is the perfect paint for a kid’s bedroom makeover – it’s 20 times stronger than normal emulsion, so when you’re tackling sticky fingers and mucky paws it’s a great solution, allowing you to wipe away the stain and not the paint underneath, meaning your walls stay as fresh as the day you painted them!
I love the Kids room tool which helps you determine what theme of bedroom suits your child. It's a little quiz of 3 questions. I did it for Sienna and it says a Jungle theme room would be good for her which is very fitting considering she loves animals and wants to be a vet!
It's a fab tool from Dulux and definitely gets the creativity juices flowing so if you are in the process of redoing your childs room, definitely give it a go!
